It All Starts Somewhere...

Here's the thing, I’ve read countless books, pondered big questions, and immersed myself in trainings all about it. And one question I kept coming back to was this:
Where does manifestation truly begin? What’s that initial spark that sends something into the universe? What sets things in motion?
There can only be one answer: Thought.
But we have thousands of thoughts every day, most of them fleeting, unconscious, and passing through without us even knowing it. So what turns a thought into a physical manifestation and something tangible in our reality?
Desire.
But I'm not just talking any desire. This isn't a passing thought of “oh, that would be nice.” I’m talking about a white-hot, all-consuming, non-negotiable desire. The kind that takes over your mind and body. The kind that makes the idea of it not happening feel impossible!
Think of when metal is being melted down. It’s so hot, it turns white instead of that orange lava looking substance. That’s the level of desire I’m talking about.
Because when you reach that state there is no other option. There is no plan B. That vision, that goal, that outcome, it’s the only thing that can possibly happen. And that feeling is truly intoxicating.

That burning desire is often ignited when people daydream or when they start writing out their plan of action and can actually see how it might work. You might get it when you listen to music, or binge an energising podcast. However it comes to you, when that feeling takes over, it’s powerful.
Now before I started getting into the personal development, healing and manifestation world, I’d never given this concept any thought. But now I reflect back, everything I’ve ever wanted to achieve, every vision I had about my life, started off with a burning desire.
Some of it came out of pain, which isn’t ideal, but it didn’t stop it from working. What I mean by this is you can have a desire to move away from something (pain) or a desire to move towards something (pleasure).
The Burning Desire That Changed Everything
When I first started coaching people, I was still working full-time as a social worker. (Side note: an emotionally draining, soul-crushing job that left me in a pretty unhealthy place.) My burning desire was to move part-time so I could dedicate more time to coaching and actually feel like me again.
At the time, it felt impossible.
I remember sitting with my husband crying because there was just no financial way to make it work. We had a child in nursery, we were moving from cheap army accommodation to real-world rent (which was 3X what we were used to), and the money just wasn't there.
But the desire was.
That white-hot, I-have-to-make-this-work burning desire was there.
And within a few months, the universe responded.
My husband left the military and, and against all logic, turned down a ‘safe’ project management job for a riskier, but better paying one. Within days, an extremely rare part-time social work position opened up. Suddenly, everything fell into place. I was working three days a week, had more time for my business, more time to rest, and a completely different quality of life.
This wasn’t a fluke. Years earlier, when my husband was stationed in Canada for eight months, we had another crazy, seemingly impossible desire to travel around the U.S. and Canada for three weeks. We visited Yellowstone, Vegas (where we stayed in an exclusive, premium suite that you had to get a special card for to even make the lift work for that level!), Malibu, San Francisco, and Banff.

Three months later? We were in New Zealand for a month, getting married and honeymooning, swimming with wild dolphins in the Pacific Ocean.
All of this on a low-ranking soldier’s wage and my less-than-£16K salary working in Laura Ashley.
Yes, we took out a little bit of credit, but this was to pay for a very small portion of it.
What made it happen was a desire so strong, so magnetic, so deeply ingrained in my mind and body that it had no option but to manifest.
When you are in that energy, things will align for you in ways you cannot predict.
Yes sometimes there’s work involved, belief work, reprogramming, action. But every single success, every goal, every manifestation starts the same way:
A single thought that becomes a burning desire.
So the next time you set a goal, ask yourself, how much do I truly desire this?
Because that will determine how everything unfolds.
